Audio Storytelling Portfolio

Coming out of BCIT’s journalism program, these are some of the projects I am most proud of. I discovered a real passion for audio storytelling through producing soundscapes, streeter interviews, and short audio documentaries. My first audio documentary, Therapeutic Riding, was an original pitch that I was fortunate to solo-produce. That was when I realized how immersive the audio format could be.

My next pitch was a documentary recounting the 1964 tsunami that hit parts of Vancouver Island. It was a lesser-known piece of history that I came across through my ties to Tofino. A classmate and I collaborated on the project and travelled across the island to conduct interviews with more than ten witnesses from that night, roughly 60 years ago.

Since then, I have had the honour of interning at CBC’s national radio program, The Current, where I further developed my skills in pitching, chasing, interviewing, and producing.

Every interview in these audio stories was conducted by myself and my co-producers.

CBC Internship Samples

During my six-week internship with The Current at CBC, I helped produce 11 radio segments. Five of these segments were my pitches that I was lucky enough to see through from start to finish. These are a few samples of the segments I contributed to as an intern producer.
