About Me

Before studying Broadcasting + Online Journalism at BCIT, I worked as Ramp Crew for Air Canada for six years. During that time, I travelled to over 20 countries and took thousands of analog photographs. It was after years of nurturing my love of storytelling through imagery, combined with my lifelong passion for writing, that I could see a career path in front of me.

Journalism gives a voice to people, places, and things that cannot speak for themselves. It can illuminate the joys of life, and the issues that weigh on us.

I quickly fell in love with video and audio storytelling at BCIT.

In my first year, a classmate and I went to Vancouver Island to interview witnesses to the 1964 tsunami which hit Port Alberni. We created an audio documentary, recounting the night and their experiences — which won the Alexis Mazurin Award for Radio Excellence.

That was the second audio documentary I had produced, before that I made a short piece on therapeutic horseback riding. That audio documentary was awarded the Student Journalism Award from the Jack Webster Foundation.
